Over the years, Xbox achievements have mostly stayed the same, with some improvements here and there. For example, achievements that require players to collect a certain number of items can now track their progress in real-time, giving players a much better idea of how close they are to getting that specific achievement. But in other instances, Xbox achievements have been outpaced by PlayStation’s trophies. Whereas Xbox gamers have not been able to reveal the details for secret achievements in a convenient way, PlayStation users have been able to see secret trophies for quite some time....

Recently, Microsoft has stopped putting quite as much effort into the Xbox free Games with Gold games, with it not being uncommon for the service to offer old and obscure games over more significant titles. Part of this has to do with the Games with Gold program still giving away Xbox 360 games when that console has been defunct for years, and part of it has to do with Microsoft having its attention elsewhere....

Players who have an Xbox Game Pass will have access to Gris, A Plague Tale: Innocence, Children of Morta, and Tekken 7. This is a formidable line-up and most of these games were critically acclaimed. While Children of Morta will be available on PC and the Xbox One, Gris and A Plague Tale will be first coming to players with a PC. What makes Night in the Woods perfect to play at this moment in time is its combination of whimsy and serious, complex issues. The aesthetic has all the orange and browns that make fall such an iconic season, and as a short game, it would be perfect for a quiet weekend indoors as the season changes. More than that, the game captures the struggle of many during this fall, as they continue to deal with the ramifications of coronavirus and lockdown....

Even with this facet, Xbox Game Pass remains one of the greatest deals in gaming. Perhaps this year its biggest weakness was exposed, namely that Microsoft still needs to pack the service with day-one releases. The delays of Starfield and Redfall no doubt hurt the value of the service, but Phil Spencer promised a big 2023 for Xbox with these games and more. Once these are rolling in reliably, the whole service takes a big step up even if it’s already at the top of the mountain....

GreedFall was a 2019 release, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions launching last year. Spiders and publisher Focus Home Interactive’s fantasy and historically-focused title was well-received, with GreedFall’s message-driven narrative, artistic design, and unique setting singled out as some of the game’s best features. If players haven’t yet managed to play GreedFall, they still have a little time to get their hands on it, especially before the sequel launches....

For the longest time, the Persona games have been PlayStation console exclusives and trapped on old hardware. Atlus has finally decided to bring Persona to more platforms, with the award-winning Persona 5 Royal joining Xbox Game Pass last year. Now that RPG fans have had plenty of time to check out Persona 5 Royal through their Game Pass subscription, Atlus has released Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden to the masses....

A certain trend that has become more prominent within the gaming community as of late is controller mapping. Each player responds differently depending on whatever system they are using. In fact, a number of Japanese studios will sometimes program button prompts in a different order that Western players aren’t always accustomed to. While button remapping is featured with both Xbox One and Xbox Series X controllers, the share button has remained untouched, until now....

Windows Central editor Jez Corden dropped an update for Xbox fans on their Twitter account this weekend. Corden says to his followers, “Don’t expect the Xbox event in early July btw.” Corden doesn’t offer a source for his information. He doesn’t provide any specific information about the event either. Perhaps Corden brought up the topic just so fans don’t build up their expectations yet. According to reputable insider Jeff Grubb, Microsoft still plans on phasing out its Xbox Live Gold service eventually. Speaking on the GrubbSnax show (as reported by VGC), Grubb reiterated a claim he made last year, that Xbox Live Gold is going to be discontinued. “I’ve said that Xbox Live Gold is going to go away,” Grubb said. “[…] Whether or not they’re actively talking about it right now, I don’t know, but they still have it on a roadmap saying, ‘Xbox Live Gold will be dropped at some point in the future....

The issue has become more widespread since launching in several new countries like Japan, Belgium and Switzerland, and could be either a disc drive problem or something tied to the dashboard. On the Xbox Forums, a new Xbox One owner described their experience with the loud noise, which didn’t occur until they were halfway through the initial system setup. Several others have also chimed in, detailing similar noises, but under different circumstances....

The WWE Championship will be on the line, as AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose go head to head in the Tables, Ladders and Chairs main event match, while all the other mid-card championships of SmackDown will also be defended. Currently, a six match card is in place for Sunday night, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if some pre-show matches are added at the last minute.
