WWE’s SummerSlam Pay-Per-View will not longer be held in the TD Garden arena in Boston, Massachusetts. The announcement was posted on the WWE website which notes that the decision was “in coordination with out local partners, government officials and TD Garden.” The website noted that refunds are available from the original point of purchase.

In terms of where SummerSlam will be held, WWE says that the information if forthcoming. The expected venue for the event is the WWE Performance Center where WrestleMania and other events were recorded. This is the same location where weekly tapings of Raw, SmackDown, and NXT and currently done.
The cancellation of venue is unsurprising considering the ongoing deliberations about public gatherings. The company itself has been under heavy criticism due to its response to the pandemic. In June, three WWE personnel tested positive for COVID-19 with reports indicating that those were only the ones who went public with their diagnosis.
Outside of the main WWE product, its offshoots are also going through changes. The company’s yearly video game will be taking a break in 2020 as WWE 2K21 is cancelled following the backlash to WWE 2K20. Instead, it seems that WWE 2K Battlegrounds will take its place as the WWE game this year.
WWE SummerSlam will be streamed on the WWE Network on August 23.
