That being said, imagine a world whereX-Men crossed over with the world ofPokemon, and the most powerful mutants also had Pokemon by their side. Thinking of the possible pairings and how personalities affect which Pokemon the X-Men would want to train and develop relationships with is an interesting thought experiment.

8 Colossus: Steelix

Colossus is a large, sturdy mutant who also happens to be a man of few words. Even without his metal coating, his sheer size alone is intimidating as the Russian feels like a living giant of sorts. The world of Pokemon is home to dozens of Steel-type creatures, a typing Colossus might lean towards when choosing a Pokemon partner.

The biggest and baddest of these Steel-types is the evolution of the Rock/Ground-type Onix, a creature known as Steelix introduced in Pokemon Gold & Silver. Like Colossus, its sheer size is astounding, and when the metal coating of its skin is thrown in, it becomes the living embodiment of an immovable force.

7 Storm: Umbreon

Pairing Storm with a Castform would give the weather-controlling X-Men member a Pokemon closely associated with the weather, but it feels uninspired and forced. She’s a powerful hero who understands just how much she is capable of. When thinking of the Pokemon she’d want by her side, a specific eeveelution comes to mind.

The exact one in mind is the Dark-type with a special connection to the moon, Umbreon. Like Storm, it’s both mysterious and elegant, but at a moment’s notice is capable of providing any necessary support in the face of villainy.

6 Angel: Emolga

Warren Worthington III, or Angel, is introduced as a rich kid. Thanks to entertainment tropes, it’s often assumed he’s a brat with a lack of empathy and a ton of entitlement issues. The truth is that Angel at his core is a good person who genuinely wants to help others. He’s known for being kind and welcoming, which makes his story that much more tragic.

Emolga is an adorable Flying and Electric dual-type who loves flying, and would welcome the chance to join Angel in the air during his travels. The two would likely be seen soaring through the air together with the biggest smiles on their faces.

5 Ice-Man: Alolan Sandslash

Bobby Drake, often referred to as Ice-Man, is an Omega-Level mutant who possesses the ability to create and control ice however he sees fit. Bobby choosing a Fire-type may sound odd, but it would offer him a training partner that could make both of them stronger with each encounter. Though it’s a neat idea, the obvious choice of an Ice-type is the right choice.

Alolan Sandslash visually matches the spike-like ice image that Ice-Man’s appearances showcase, and it’s also both cute and tough looking. The idea of seeing him slide into combat and launching a balled-up Alolan Sandslash at a secondary enemy would be a sight to behold.

4 Beast: Ditto

Dr. Hank McCoy is an intelligent man who spends most of his free time problem-solving and studying things that fascinate him. As Beast, he often comes off as a savage beast, but that couldn’t be farther from the type of person he is.

Most people, when choosing a Pokemon, would go for the one they feel they could develop the closest relationship with. With Hank, he’d likely want the one he finds the most interesting, which sounds like Ditto. Though he’d start by solely focusing on studying how it transforms and manipulates its biology, he’d likely grow an attachment as the two could relate to being misunderstood by everyone around them.

3 Cyclops: Lucario

Cyclops, above all else, is known for his leadership abilities. The problem is that his character has been misused and/or underutilized in the live-action adaptations, so most audiences don’t understand the important role he plays as a member of the X-Men.

Being a good leader means knowing how the team is feeling and how best to put them in the best place to succeed. Not only is Lucario as stoic and proud as Cyclops, but its ability to understand the feelings and desires of others would help Cyclops become an even better and more effective leader.

2 Jean Grey: Alakazam

Moltres is the Pokemon most people would see Jean Grey training, but in reality, that’s a legendary Pokemon who is best served to live a life on its own as a mythical entity. Jean Grey is powerful, and her story is often tragic and paradigm-shifting.

Alakazam is a Psychic-type Pokemon that may feel like an odd partner for Jean, but it’s also powerful enough to possibly help her when dark and intrusive thoughts invade her mind. Whether it’s Alakazam or a different Psychic-type, for her sake she’d likely want the most powerful partner she can have, regardless of what it looks like.

1 Professor X: Meditite

Professor Xavier is known for being incredibly powerful, but if one were to ask him what he was, he’d likely respond with “teacher” or “educator.” He commits his time and attention to creating a safe space for fellow mutants, and wants nothing more than to educate and teach them about what they’re capable of and guide them in the right direction.

He’d likely choose a base form Pokemon he could watch grow before his very eyes, but would also welcome the chance to learn something from it as well. Meditite feels like the perfect Pokemon partner, as Professor X could learn to meditate and relax while also helping the Meditite evolve into its best self.
