In what GOG is calling ‘Wave II,’ they are continuing a plan that kicked off late last year with the announcement of a partnership with Disney Interactive. At the time, more that 20 games from the developer made their way to the service, including a few Star Wars games like X-Wing Special Edition and TIE Fighter Special Edition. Today, another six games join the list, thereby giving Star Wars fans the perfect excuse to revisit these games and suddenly remember that, “Oh yeah, a new Star Wars movie comes out this year.”
The six new games in question are:
Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter - digital distribution debut on GOG. com Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance - digital distribution debut on GOG. com Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Saga - digital distribution debut on GOG. com Star Wars Battlefront II (20% discount for 72 hours) Star Wars: Dark Forces (20% discount for 72 hours) Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords (20% discount for 72 hours)
Said GOG regarding the new releases:
Unfortunately, two of the bigger releases today, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter and X-Wing Alliance, have seemingly dropped the ball when it comes to their multiplayer, as the feature is either unplayable or lacking in places. Comments beneath the product pages for the two games have said as much, claiming that Alliance’s multiplayer modes are ’limited,’ while XvT’s is ‘DOA.’ That said, both games are still praised for being great after all this time.
The re-releases are set to continue later this week, if the countdown on the front page of GOG.com is anything to go by. Come Thursday (or 38 hours from the time of writing this), expect more LucasArts and Disney Interactive games to become available, though no one is saying which ones.
Which LucasArts games are you hoping to get a re-release this week? Or has your favorite already come out?
