Many were shocked at the sudden announcement of Mixer’s shutdown. Mixer may not have been close to Twitch in terms of overall viewership, however, it did boast more streamers than YouTube Gaming and Facebook Gaming combined.

The assumption now would be that any group associated with Xbox in an official capacity would make the move to Facebook Gaming as well. However, this seems to not be the case following a tweet from the Xbox Ambassadors Twitter account that stated, “One more week on Mixer and then we’ll be heading over to Twitch!”

For the uninitiated, Xbox Ambassadors is an Xbox group that is dedicated to inclusivity, safety, and fun within the Xbox community. Considering that the group is officially associated with Microsoft and Xbox, it’s rather strange that it would not be moving to Facebook Gaming as well.

Considering part of Xbox Ambassadors’ mission is to spread inclusivity in gaming, Twitch isn’t exactly the most inclusive community. Recently, Twitch faced major backlash following its Black Lives Matter video that featured a cast of predominately white content creators. This seems to illuminate a problem with Twitch not actively promoting its Black streamers and content creators. Hopefully, with a group like Xbox Ambassadors onboard, this issue will slowly be fixed over time.
