Now, it’s worth mentioning that this list is composed of games that could logically be added to the service, but there’s no accurately predicting what Xbox decides to come up with. Whether anything on this list makes it or not, here is our Xbox Games with Gold wish list for January 2020.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Xbox One)

With the recent release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian, and this month’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, it’s a good time to keep the Star Wars hype train a-moving. There are a ton of games that could fill this niche, but Star Wars Battlefront 2 may be the best choice. Now, the controversy of its microtransactions aside, the game has improved since the month of its release, and new content still incoming. The latest comes in the form of the Rise of Skywalker DLC, so it’s really the first time someone can somewhat experience the movie in-game and in-cinema (excluding from the Fortnite event).

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier (Xbox One)

The Walking Dead: Final Season recently brought the story of Clementine to an end, and while it’s possible Skybound Games picks up another story, it wouldn’t be from Clementine’s perspective. Either way, these games usually find their way onto the Games with Gold list, with both Season 1 and Season 2 having appeared before. The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, then, is the next logical step to appear on the service, where players mostly step out of the shoes of Clementine and into Javier Garcia’s. It’s less certain that this game could appear given everything that has happened with the IP, but it also stands to reason that it’s not impossible.

BioShock 2 (Xbox 360)

On the heels of the new Bioshock game announcement, Xbox Games with Gold could capitalize this hype by adding a new entry from its franchise to the lineup. BioShock Infinite has already appeared, so it would make sense for BioShock 2 to take this place, meaning players would be taking on the role of Subject Delta as he tries to save his Little Sister, Eleanor, again. While many usually scoff at the 360 offerings every month, BioShock 2 could get it some serious attention, as time has actually been fairly kind to the sequel.

Skate 3 (Xbox 360)

Although Skate 4 does not seem likely to happen, many fans are still dreaming of a day where it does. This dream has been kept alive by tongue-in-cheek comments, trademark renewals and happenings, and the flood of Skate 4 demands on social media, yet before those demands are ever possibly met, it’s not a bad time to add a Skate entry to Games with Gold. Seeing as skateboarding simulators have the chance to return to the limelight and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater remakes are rumored to be in the works, there may not actually be a better time.
