Previously, Xbox Game Pass subscribers were expecting just two new games for April 28 in the form of Bugsnax and Unsouled, both of which could arguably be labeled as day one releases. In the case of Bugsnax, it used to be a PlayStation console exclusive, and is just now making its Xbox debut through Game Pass. Unsouled, meanwhile, is an indie action-RPG that was previously available to play through the Xbox Game Preview program, but is now enjoying its full release.

Bugsnax and Unsouled would be enough for April 28 to be a strong day for Xbox Game Pass, but the surprise bonus game sweetens the pot. NBA 2K22, the latest installment in the long-running basketball game franchise, is joining Xbox Game Pass as of April 28. While it’s not live on Game Pass at the time of this writing, it should become available at some point later today.

Unless Microsoft has more surprises up its sleeve, this will be it for the new Xbox Game Pass games for April 2022. Overall, it was a fairly stacked month full of day one releases, and it will be interesting to see if May 2022 will be able to top it. As it stands, there are a number of day one Xbox Game Pass games announced for May 2022 already, but Microsoft has yet to reveal everything new coming to the service next month.

While April 2022 has seen plenty of new games added to the Xbox Game Pass lineup, it’s also seen titles removed from the service as well. A handful of games were removed from Xbox Game Pass earlier in the month, and April 30 will see some more leave the lineup. In fact, four games are leaving Xbox Game Pass come April 30, so anyone interested should make sure to check them out while they’re still available.

Generation Zero, meanwhile, is quite a different beast. Developed by Avalanche Studio, the studio behind the Just Cause games, Generation Zero is a 4-player co-op first-person shooter survival game. Generation Zero originally released in 2019 and had some pretty negative reviews upon its release, but the game’s Xbox Game Pass debut comes alongside a fresh update that should make it a bit more appealing.

And finally, Mind Scanners is a day one Xbox Game Pass game that like Evil Genius 2, previously released for PC. The game has drawn comparisons to Papers, Please, but has a cyberpunk aesthetic. Anyone interested can try Mind Scanners through Xbox Game Pass now.

In the meantime, there’s even more for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to look forward to next month.
