Whenever a consumer buys a new game console, there’s typically content that comes included with it that users manually input via download codes. However, Microsoft is now employing a system where any content that comes included with the console will be available to claim via a tab that appears shortly after console set-up, starting with new Xbox One bundles. One could also surmise that this feature will come included in the Xbox Series X as well.

For the longest time, Microsoft has used 25-digit download codes as a way for users to redeem content on their consoles. It’s an effective system that Xbox continues to employ with their various services, such as Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live. However, it looks like Microsoft is doing away with download codes in favor of this new format.

It’s an efficient system that will save future console owners a lot of time. Supposedly, if a user wanted an Xbox Game Pass subscription card, they would still have to go out and buy a card with a download code printed on it. Then, in turn, input the code into the console to redeem it. Regardless, Microsoft continues to find new ways to make Xbox more efficient for its users.

Unlike the PlayStation 5, Microsoft has shown off the Xbox Series X quite a lot. With official hardware specs and a list of games confirmed, it seems users will know exactly what they’re getting into when purchasing the impressive piece of hardware, which fans have compared to a fridge and a banana.

Many Xbox fans are looking forward to what’s to come with the Series X, especially with an extensive list of console exclusive games and the widely anticipated release of Halo Infinite on the horizon.
