Microsoft has noted that the outage is affecting matchmaking, cloud storage, social features, and other online services. The Xbox support team sent out a tweet shortly after the outage started and have been keeping everyone updated on the status of the service. At this moment, there is no ETA on a fix, so players will just need to be patient until the issue has been resolved.

It seems that the issue is for both Xbox One and Xbox 360, and is worldwide. With many games requiring some form of Xbox Live connectivity, the outage is leaving many frustrated and taking to Twitter to express that frustration.
Among the affected games is Fortnite, which just recently received an update that added a new weapon due to the delay of the highly anticipated jetpack, and Overwatch which is right in the middle of their Lunar Near Year event.
Hopefully Xbox Live will be back up and running soon so players can get back to their daily grind in their game of choice. Keep your eyes on the Xbox Live status page for updates on when the service is restored.
