Listed as part of the weekly Xbox 360 Marketplace schedule, ‘Rockstar Pass’ is priced at 800 MS Points, but what is offered with it, however, is unknown. Many are suggesting that the Rockstar Pass is a way in which gamers who missed out on some of the pre-order bonus content can access the additional missions, suits, and collectibles.

Essentially, ‘Rockstar Pass’ would be for L.A. Noire what the Cerberus Network was for Mass Effect 2 — a place for gamers to access in-game content and downloads. While we figure that the majority of the content featured in ‘Rockstar Pass’ would be various pre-order bonuses, there is also the opportunity to include content that was left on the cutting room floor.

As was indicated by Rockstar, many superfluous missions needed to be cut in order to make enough room on three Xbox 360 discs. If ‘Rockstar Pass’ is indeed a digital content outlet, perhaps those missions could become downloadable for gamers who can’t get enough of Cole Phelps.

Microsoft will also be releasing a plethora of Avatar gear in celebration of L.A. Noire’s release. What exactly will be available they have yet to announce, but we anticipate a wide variety of 1940s era hats and coats would be a perfect fit.

As the game’s release gets ever closer, we imagine that Rockstar or Microsoft will make a formal announcement regarding what exactly Rockstar Pass is. Until then, take some time to get acquainted with the game’s various mechanics. You will need them if you want to move up in the ranks of the LAPD.

What do you think ‘Rockstar Pass’ is? Do you plan to pick up all the various pre-order bonuses when they become available for download?

L.A. Noire releases May 17, 2011 for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
