Some Xbox Live subscribers have received a message listing Blinx: The Time Sweeper as a free Xbox Live Games With Gold for April 2020 in place of Toy Box Turbos. Not every Xbox Live user has received this message, and Microsoft has also not made any official announcement. Considering this, it’s possible that this is simply an error, and Toy Box Turbos is still on deck as a free game for Xbox Live Gold subscribers in April. Alternatively, it’s possible that this is just a regional change, and only gamers in certain areas will be getting Blinx instead of Toy Box Turbos, which is why only some Xbox Live users received the message.

For those who may not know what the game is, Blinx: The Time Sweeper is a platformer from Artoon and was developed as an exclusive for the original Xbox. There was a point when the titular Blinx character was considered to be the Xbox’s mascot and the equivalent to Mario or Sonic the Hedgehog, but the game’s somewhat mediocre reception kept that from happening.

If Blinx: The Time Sweeper is one of the free Games with Gold for April 2020, it will mark a rare occasion when an original Xbox game is part of the lineup. The Xbox One backward compatibility program has allowed Microsoft to make original Xbox games available for free in the past, but it’s only done so on rare occasions, usually opting to focus on Xbox 360 and Xbox One titles instead.

Depending on if this change is really happening, fans should be able to expect an official announcement sooner rather than later. Then again, it’s possible Microsoft will just not make a fuss about it and fans will find out on April 16 whether the free game will be Toy Box Turbo or Blinx: The Time Sweeper.
